‘Open Office’ project using XBee & Arduino

For our mid-term we were asked to work in groups to create a Simple Sensor Network using ZB XBees… one that creates a mesh network covering a large area. After meeting the class settled on creating a network that covered ITP’s 4th floor a network that notifies when certain professor’s door’s were opened and/or closed. We were all asked to take on a different aspect of the project and for this project I decided to take on the task of documenting the overall project. (more…)

Romance Lighting Sensor

For our next assignment we were tasked with creating a romance lighting sensor. After multiple hours on the first two projects, this exercise went surprisingly well. Here the coordinator is set-up in API mode (note that both xbees don’t have to be API enabled). It’s essential that the base station radio–the one that’s attached to the Arduino–be in API mode so that it can report the incoming I/O frames arriving from the remote sensor radio. (more…)
